Australasian rights management organisation APRA AMCOS is offering A$100,000 in grants for the commissioning of new works by Australian and New Zealand composers through the Art Music Fund. Applications are now being accepted from composers, and close on 21 February, 2017.
What does that mean for you?
As a presenter or programmer of art music, you have the opportunity to commission new works and have the commission fee covered.
How?
Commit to presenting new work created by Australian or New Zealand composers, and help them develop an application that meets the Art Music Fund criteria.
If the composer’s application is successful, the commission fee for the work will be covered by the grant.
What is eligible?
The Art Music Fund supports a wide range of music styles including:
- Notated composition
- Electroacoustic music
- Improvised music (including innovative, original jazz)
- Sound art
- Installation sound
- Multimedia, web and film sound and music
- Theatrical, operatic and choreographed music.
The new work to be created must be innovative, display professional compositional craft and represent a benchmark of excellence in its field. Read the full eligibility guidelines or see the works funded in the 2016 round of the Art Music Fund for more insight.
The work must be supported by an exploitation program that guarantees multiple exposures by way of performances, recordings, broadcasts or digital distribution.
