Mit Radio ORANGE 94.0 verbindet mica – music austria die im Jahr 2024 präsentierte Studie „Database_d Airplay – Wie kommt Musik ins Freie Radio?”. Nun lädt das Freie Radio am 5. und 6. Dezember 2026 dazu ein, über Musik zu sprechen. In dem zweitägigen Workshop unter der Leitung der Komponistin und Performerin Flo Wilson lernen die Teilnehmer:innen Methoden des „Deep Listening” kennen. Sie hören gemeinsam mitgebrachte Musik und diskutieren Titel, die sie gerne in einer möglichen zukünftigen gemeinsamen Radiosendung mit neuer Musik aus Wien hören würden.
Debating music in community radio is part of an ongoing reflection process at ORANGE 94.0. This year we would like to invite you to listen – to share music – to work on a music radio show. In a two-days workshop hosted by composer and performer Flo Wilson we will learn methods of deep listening, listen to music you bring along and discuss tracks you would like to hear in a possible future joint radio show featuring new music from Vienna.
Listening as a collective practice rather than an individual form of perception is at the centre of radio as well as this workshop. Taking what you and what others hear when we are listening as a starting point we will discuss ways of choosing music for radio.
More specifically, we will discuss guiding principles for a programme series on ORANGE 94.0 focusing on new releases from the Viennese music scene. How do we select music when we want to live up to the objective of a community radio to provide a non-discriminatory programme?
The practical outcome of the workshop will be a music playlist for one or more radio shows. Participants are invited to stay involved in the production of a continuous music programme after the workshop. We will also discuss a system how Viennese musicians and labels can hand in tracks to be featured in the show.
Invited are radio hosts and other persons interested in curation of music for radio as a joint process in a group. Participants are expected to share diversity and a discrimination sensitive approach as founding values of community radio.
