Unanimes! ist eine Initiative, die sich der Förderung von Komponistinnen und ihrem Repertoire widmet.
To celebrate and promote the works of women composers, the French Association for orchestras (AFO) has planned three distinct actions : the certification of works written by women composers and performed throughout the year ; a mentorship program for young composers; and finally a composition competition, which is meant for women composers only.
In this competition, the candidates can choose to participate in two categories : “chamber orchestra”, and “full-sized symphonic orchestra”. In both categories, it will be required to send a 7-10 minutes unedited piece. The candidates may send one piece per category, but they will only be selected in one category for the final round.
Please read our general regulations for more information about the criteria and the nomenclature
There are two steps in the early application process :
- Pre-registration : the pre-registration is open from April, 5th 2023 until August 31st. The candidates will have to apply on Muvac : fill in the registration form and submit their personal documents on the platform.
- Once they are registered, the candidates can send their scores up until September 30th. The individual parts are not required at this stage of the competition.
Once the registration phase is closed, our jury will select a maximum three pieces in each category, to compete during the final round.
Each finalist piece will be performed publicly by the orchestra, in the presence of the jury and of the finalist composers on September 13th, 2024: the jury will decide on the winning piece for each category at the end of the public final.
The laureates designated by the jury will receive the Unanimes! prize:
4,500€ for the “chamber orchestra” category
5,500€ for the “full-sized symphonic orchestra” category
Score edition for each of the winning pieces, provided the laureate doesn’t have a preestablished exclusivity contract with a publisher
The laureates and the finalists will be provided with a recording of their work for promotion purposes.
