SUMMARY:WAVES Vienna & MICA MUSIC BUSINESS CRASH COURSE
DESCRIPTION:The workshop provides a brief overview of the Austrian music sc
 ene\, its unique characteristics\, its key players\, and what matters most
  if you want to run a successful music business in this country—whether 
 as an artist\, a label\, or in the fields of management\, booking\, or pub
 lishing.\n\nThe workshop will be conducted in English and is divided into 
 three sessions:\n\nIn Session 1 (2:15–3:15 p.m.)\, the basics of Austria
 n copyright law will be explained\, including the work of relevant collect
 ing societies.\n\nIn Session 2 (3:30–4:30 p.m.)\, the work of labels\, d
 istributors\, and publishers will be examined. In addition\, the session w
 ill cover how live agents\, booking agencies\, tour management\, and event
  organizers operate and collaborate with one another.\n\nIn Session 3 (4:4
 5–5:45 p.m.)\, Marie Hummer (Rain/Label) and Flora Strigl (Waves Festiva
 l) will present their work in a panel discussion. Following this\, there w
 ill be an opportunity to talk with the experts.\n\nThe workshop is aimed a
 t young professionals in the YPP (Young Professional Program) of this year
 ’s Waves Festival and all musicians interested in the Austrian music bus
